Investing in Public Transport

Connecting Redmond: A Modern Vision for Public Transport

As a dedicated transit advocate, I believe we must do more to modernise and expand public transport within our city. A thriving Redmond requires a transport network that works for everyone—connecting our neighbourhoods, reducing our carbon footprint, and easing traffic congestion.

My commitment to you is to actively pursue both immediate improvements and visionary, long-term solutions for our region's transport infrastructure.

Immediate Action: Expanding Local Bus Service

To ensure every resident has reliable access to transport, we need to bring bus routes closer to home. My plan includes:

  • Neighbourhood Transport Studies: Actively studying and identifying underserved neighbourhoods that require more frequent and accessible bus service.
  • Securing Transport Funding: Working closely with state and regional leaders to secure the necessary funding for transport expansion and modernisation.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partnering with Cascades East Transit, our regional service provider, to ensure our local expansion efforts are seamlessly integrated and effectively executed.

A Long-Term Vision: Bend-Redmond Passenger Rail

As our region grows, we must look beyond our city limits to solve broader infrastructure challenges. I am proposing a long-term vision for passenger light rail connecting Bend and Redmond.

This transformative project would include:

  • Direct Airport Connectivity: Linking the rail system directly to the Redmond Airport to streamline regional and out-of-state travel.
  • Congestion Relief: Significantly lowering daily traffic congestion along the Highway 97 corridor between our two cities.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Providing a high-capacity, eco-friendly alternative to driving, drastically reducing our region's carbon emissions.

Advocating for our future.

Public transport is more than just getting from point A to point B; it is about economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and community connection. I will continue to make public transport a central pillar of my campaign and my service to this city.
